NÅSTROND - Muspellz Synir LP / CD

The weird phase of Nåstrond started somewhere around the time they did the split 7" w/ Nocternity as much as I know ( Thou I gotta confess I'm not sure). All I remember is that this band wasn't very interesting in early 90's. Not that I claim they were'nt any good, but for me it was more a thing of an extremely sissy record label they had put their debut album at. The label that had like 4 good releases and the rest was utter crap.I get repulsed by that label. Seriously. Now back to Nåstrond...
It seems like there is a whole new concept within their approach. Be it Slagmaur influence, or even industrial music in general, anyhow Nåstrond seems fresh again. It may not be everyone cup of tea but i find this newer shit awesome. It's like blackmetal went industrial and doom yet staying blackmetal 100%. It sounds like out of this world, insane, weird and fuck!... and also very daring. I mean not many would go this way. I fuckin hear Locust Abortion Technician here...and and same time it does sound kind-of orthodox?!  Weird fuckin' shit. Dark & doomy & morbid. Exceptional stuff.

TERATO - The Morbid Wraiths 7"

Promising new act judging by this fairly simple presented two-song output. It could be labeled as Orthodox Black Metal as it sounds huge and smells of Necromorbous yet it's somewhat more chaotic and has a weird structural approach. There's a hint of creativity here yet I know I cannot really decide until' I heard some more material. As I said it sound promising so far. Check it out.

SACRAMENTARY ABOLISHMENT - The River Of Corticone CD

I just had reviewed Manticore's Ritual Cleansing Of The Whore, so I coul'nt let this fucker alone. The thing both Manticore and S.A. had in common is that they have been released at same troubled times and that they both have a historical meaning. In the case of Sacramentary Abolishment it's again the undisputed deathmetal influence, a lot of it from Ohio,...yes, Embalmer for the most part. But these guys were even more revolutionary in their own context. I dare to say this fucker stands right there among my top 3 Canadian albums ever .This shit, as it seems, opened doors to everything the term Canadian War Metal means today. In S.A. you can hear almost every War Metal band there is today. And it was done back in '95 in Alberta fuckin' Canada. Its cold as shit up there. I lived there and I know that. It can be heard here. A fuckin' classic with a fuckin' class.

MANTICORE - Ritual Cleansing Of The Whore MLP, MCD, CS

Recorded 10 years ago, when 2nd wave goregrind was at it's peak, and obviously being from Ohio, Manticore soaked in all that in what the extreme underground music had offered. It's more than a fact that this recording, as much as some would disagree, ain't that blackmetal at all. It is without a doubt late 90's deathmetal with goregrind type of vocals, best compared to Ohio's Decrepit going Ohio's Embalmer going Impetigo with maybe just a slight bit of Archgoat type of feeling. And for what it is it's a good inside-view at the end of 90's when European early 90's blackmetal reached it's worst commercial peak, goregrind & grindcore ware probably the only genres still massively released on 7" vinyls and a handful of bands, such as Manticore played uncomformist deathmetal unlike the slam-brutal-death-grind that was on the rise from both the mid-west and New York. I now look at this as traditional Ohio-Death-Metal release. It didn't stroke me back then, to be honest, but I surely enjoy this shit now, cause the times proved not much shit like this would ever emerge again..So it definitely has a historical meaning.

BEAST - Fixed by the Devil MLP, MCD

Fairly simple blackmetal somewhat reminiscent of Havohej's later outputs going riff-wise into the VON territory. Band, or better said project members, insist on appealing only to "Underground Maniacs Only", I could'nt agree more, this stuff is surely not meant for majority of Enthroned fans. Not bad for a spin or two , but certanly nothing groundbreaking either.

ARMAGEDDA - Only True Believers LP, CD, CS

Really a strong release with good riffs allover. Practically everything you'd want from a band that plays quality euro-styled blackmetal. There's practically no weak spots at all. Best described as Darkthrone-ish blackmetal with a 2000's touch and a great sense for non-pretentious melody. Nothing more to add.

MEFITIC - Signing the Servants of God CS

The second demo by MEFITIC, probably even better than their first. I do not understand why nobody talks about these guys. This is just awesome DeathMetal, in the way of old Incatation and Demoncy. No fuckin' shit this is flawless material. Drakkar should have made a MCD / MLP out of this shit. There are no excuses. If there was a grading system, this would probably be a straight 10/10.

IRREVERENT - Blasphemous Crucifix Profanation LP+7"

This was pre-Black Witchery and style-wise nobody would tell that. This shit is far more in the Archgoat / old Belial way as opposed to the straightforward approach of  later BW. The tracks actually rule, in a death-black sense. Too bad this shit was moth-food for soo long. Well, better now than never I guess. Great presentation btw. thanks to SSP. Artwok on both LP sleeve and 7" sleeve by the Thorncross-ripoff artist Sickness666. Good job nevertheless.

APTORIAN DEMON - Angst, Jammer og Fortvilelse 7"

Two tracks, one kind of in the way of MALIGN, the other fast as hell like something off "Battles in the north"...oh yeah note the awesome Arcturus/Die Kreuzen/Voivod intro part. Anyway, this is a great newcommer, something that really sticks out of the crowd at the moment. The LP is soon out on Kyrck Prods. so be on stand-by to email mr. Drogo for the total.

MORD - Necrosodomic Abyss LP / CD

Well executed classically-styled blackmetal album bordering on Immortal's"Pure Holocaust" and Marduk's "Those of the unlight". The drums seem triggered and that's about the only let-down. Otherwise , I dare to say, a flawless album. To sum it up, it's pretty  good  "gastarbeiter" work. Salutes!

G.A.T.E.S. - Total Death LP / CD

Older material by this Japanese ebay-money-sweepers. As opposed to their later "Yay-Ho" material this shit actually rules. A bit of this, a bit of that but overall really amusing. If you like Tank, Bathory and Motorhead you can easlly add this shit to the list. Tip: Just don't be fooled by the entire PunkMetal genre. Lot's of sucky stuffs out there...Advice : better spend yr ca$h on 80's gems that you could get for MUCH cheaper.
Presentation is quite good and minimal. Front surely recalls Sonicrime Therapy's design.

ABOMINATOR - Damnations Prophecy LP / CD

The first full-lenght by the Australian warmachine. Intense fuckin' metal with awesome raw production and insane vocals. This shit picks up right where Bestial Warlust stopped. I hear sissys find this band a bit boring, you know like it gets on their nerves or whatever, guess they find a c*ck up ther a*s more enjoyable...

RITES OF THY DEGRINGOLADE - Totality LP / CD

If you like Revenge, Ouroboros, Weapon & Conqueror this is probably an album you already worship. For others I don't need to add anything except DIE IN IGNORANCE!
This is probably one of the best Canadian Death-Black albums of all time. It has the right amount of everything. It's just brilliant. HAIL!

KAOSRITUAL- Svøpt Morgenrød LP / CD / CS

Nice blackmetal out of Norway. Sounding like old Dodheimsgard , V.B.E. and DarkThrone with it's own little maniacal edge. Too bad this band won't be putting out any more material. Great record.

HETROERTZEN - Exaltation of Wisdom LP / CD

Ritualistic& intense blackmetal from this long-run band out of Chile. Haven't heard too much of these guys before , but from what I have, this album definetly slays the rest. So in case you heard some of their older work only, and you did'nt like it, you may give this band another chance. If your trip is early Inquisition and WWE-era Katharsis, check this out! Great artwork, comes with a nice booklet.

OLD WAINDS - Where The Snows Are Never Gone LP / CD / CS

Ice cold blackmetal from the Arctic Circle. Awesome Demo transferred on LP & CD years ago by Miriquidi Prods. (R.I.P.) Worth every attention for fans of demo- phase Behemoth & early Katharsis.

LEGIONS OF ASTAROTH - Rites of Somatic Death LP / CD

Intelligent , in a good sense of course. Good and interesting songs with a replay value. Somewhat untypical for an USBM band. Nothing new but definately worth your attention if you like somewhat complex, at same time kind of primitive and non-fashionable armed with a good sound. btw great demented artwork!
